The Discovery Stop is now offering classes in art! Most classes, unless noted, are drop-off classes. You are welcome to stay at any time, if you wish. Siblings may play during class times for a discounted rate of $4/child.
ART CLASSES: The Discovery Stop has teamed up with Abrakadoodle to offer classes in art for ages 20 MONTHS to 12 years of age. The imaginative Abrakadoodle art education curriculum was developed by artists and educators and exceeds the National Standards for Visual Arts Education. Each art class offers a unique educational experience. And each child’s art is as original as he or she is!
In Abrakadoodle art classes and programs, children:
- Learn about artists and artist styles
- Develop new skills
- Learn about Artists of Distinction
- Demonstrate art techniques
- Explore creative art materials
- Design original artwork
Twoosy Doodlers: For
children ages 20 mths -3 yrs. Get in on the fun! This early childhood
class for children and their caregivers provides our youngest doodlers
with an opportunity to experience art at it's best. We provide the environment,
tools and caring teachers for an explosion of creation and imagination.
Using paints, textures, papers, glues and modeling compounds our lessons
carefully introduce vocabulary, encourage gross and fine motor development
and a safe place to explore color, texture and patterns through play.
Please dress in worry free clothes for class.
Mini-Doodlers: For
children ages 3-6. Our Mini Doodlers enjoy the ultimate art experience.
Lessons are creatively designed to ignite the imagination, foster creativity
and develop language, social, motor and critical thinking skills. Each
Lesson provides new experiences with paints, water-colors, pastels and
other creative tools and materials.
Doodlers: For
children ages 7 - 12. Doodlers develop new skills and talents while designing
unique creations using a variety of wonderful materials and tools. Each
lesson focuses upon developing skills, learning techniques and expanding
knowledge. The methods and styles of contemporary and master artists specializing
in paint, sculpture, design and more are incorporated into each class.
They will explore techniques while learning about both master and contemporary
artists.
- Twoosy Doodlers:
Tuesdays 10:00 to 10:45 - Next session starts on December 2, 2008. Classes
are: 12/2, 12/9, 12/16, 12/23, 12/30, 1/6
- Mini Doodlers: Thursdays
from 11:00-12:00 - Next session starts the week of December 4, 2008.
Classes are: 12/4, 12/11, 12/18, 1/8, 1/15, 1/22
- After School Doodlers: Thursdays, 3:30 to 4:30 for Grades 1 - 3 - Next session starts January 8, 2009. Classes are: 1/8, 1/15, 1/22, 1/29, 2/5, 2/12
REGISTRATION:
Registration is required and space is limited. Parent/Caregivers will
be required to sign a waiver of agreement at the time of registration.
Pricing is based on a 6-week session. Ongoing Enrollment: You may enroll
at any time.
- Twoosy Doodlers: $75/child + $30 materials fee
- Mini Doodlers: $60/child + $30 materials fee
